Today I met my good friend and former colleague, Ruth, in town for an epic hot chocolate and catch up. It has been almost a year since I last saw her and I was eager to hear how her teacher training year was going and to find out if she had set a date for her wedding - which she has! I have only attended one proper wedding before but I was quite young then so I am really very excited that I’ll be invited to attend hers in August. I am hoping to bring my camera too! I also met her fiance, Richard, for the first time which was lovely. Neither of us finished our hot chocolates but we caught up on each others’ lives and promised to go less time before meeting up again.

So I’m not sure if this is the right space for these. I tried creating a separate space but it didn’t feel quite right. I’ll try them here.
The 28th October 2011 is the day I learned to develop film.
Like much of the Autumn Term, I was unprepared, under-slept and overwhelmed, running from one appointment to the next. It was fantastic; I would not have had it any other way. And so on the 28th October, I found myself with 26 exposures to take in just 10 minutes.
The thought horrified me a little, I had just paid too much for this precious and privileged roll of film only the week before, and I don’t usually like to waste materials (instead liable to hoarding them for years in case of some future artistic epiphany that never arrives) but suddenly I realised this was liberating and so I spent those 10 minutes running around campus with a camera from the 80s.
Then I learned how to develop it.
Update: eventually found a space for my analogue adventures here :)

Meet George, our adopted university pet. He sits in our porch when it rains and peers in the conservatory when he is lonely. He trips you up as you try to hang your washing on the line and jumps on your lap when you bend down. He’s unpredictable and a little needy. His Christmas present this year: a tin of tuna and a short nap in our conservatory.
Merry Christmas George.
